Lauren Ranivand, DVM, MPH

Dr. Ranivand is the co-founder of Fairfax Veterinary Hospital and is dedicated to thoughtful, individualized care. Her work is guided by a lifelong connection with animals and a strong interest in the relationship between animal health, human health, and the environments we share.

Education & Background

Dr. Ranivand earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and later completed a Master of Public Health at Drexel University. She then collaborated with the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine on the 9-11 Search and Rescue Dog Project and completed research on human and feline asthma trends in the Philadelphia region, earning the Exemplary Community-Based Master’s Project Award.

Care Philosophy

Dr. Ranivand believes great veterinary care begins with understanding the full picture of a patient’s life. She takes a thorough approach to each case and works closely with pet owners to develop treatment plans that support long-term health and well-being.

Outside the Clinic

Dr. Ranivand spent much of her early life riding horses and caring for animals at the barn, experiences that shaped her appreciation for the human-animal bond. Outside the hospital, she enjoys traveling, photography, nature, and art. She also participates in international veterinary service work with World Vets.

Melissa Gosline, DVM, CVA

Dr. Melissa Gosline is the co-founder of Fairfax Veterinary Hospital and is known for her compassionate approach and strong connection with both pets and their families. She approaches every patient with the same care and dedication she would give to her own beloved pets.

Education & Background

Dr. Gosline earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from James Madison University before becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician through Northern Virginia Community College. She later received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech in 2010, where she was honored with The Sherrie Clark Compassion and Caring Award.

Care Philosophy

Dr. Gosline believes every patient deserves compassion and individualized attention. She takes time to help pets feel comfortable during visits and ensures owners understand the diagnostic and treatment process so they can work together as a team.

Outside the Clinic

Dr. Gosline has loved animals since childhood and began caring for stray cats at just eight years old. Outside the clinic, she enjoys traveling, swimming, cooking, and trying new recipes. She shares her home with an orange tabby named Mr. Jones.

Gabriella Menezes, DVM

Dr. Gabriella Menezes is a veterinarian who brings a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to every appointment. Having dreamed of working in veterinary medicine since childhood, she began her professional career in August 2024 and is dedicated to creating a positive experience for both pets and their families.

Education & Background

Dr. Menezes has completed additional training to support both the physical and emotional wellbeing of her patients. She is Fear Free certified and has advanced training in end-of-life care through CAETA, as well as dental training through ATDC. She was drawn to this practice because of its shared commitment to compassionate, low-stress care and an approach that closely aligns with how she believes veterinary medicine should be practiced.

Care Philosophy

Dr. Menezes values building strong relationships with both pets and their owners. She has a special interest in working with fearful or misunderstood animals, taking the time and patience needed to help them feel safe and comfortable. Known for her calm and caring demeanor, she strives to create a supportive environment where pets can gain confidence and trust over time.

Outside the Clinic

Originally from Fairfax, Dr. Menezes attended Robinson High School before spending time living in Wilmington, North Carolina and eventually returning to the area. She is happy to be back close to both the city and nature. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She shares her home with her dog, Rosie, and is looking forward to welcoming two Nigerian Dwarf goats.
